Hits 1 Playing Show Tunes?

I was listening to Hits 1 this afternoon, and heard one of their new music sweepers for "Seasons of Love" by "the original cast of Rent". At first I thought it was a joke, but after listening to the fully produced sweeper, and the song in it's entirety, it seemed to be for real? Why are they playing Show tunes on channel 1 when they have a broadway channel? Seems as out of place as when some stations across the country started spinning the "(BLEEP) Eye for the Straight Guy" theme song a few years ago. Let's hope the show tunes invading CHR is short lived as well...

(funny how the radio-info system automatically edited out the name of the TV show...)
Edited by thenewguy2 on 08/22/05 02:40 AM.
