Hits Brings CHR Battle To Montgomery

Bluewater Broadcasting launched CHR “Hits 107.1” W296AI/96.1 WQKS-HD3 Montgomery, AL this afternoon. The new format replaces Classic Rock “107.1 The Vault” and was paired with a signal upgrade from 38 watts at 68 meters to 99 watts at 250 meters (Coverage Map). W296AI brings a direct format competitor to Cumulus’ “Y102” 101.9 WHHY and is taking shots online about being locally owned and operated as opposed to Y102’s operations reporting to Cumulus headquarters in Atlanta. Hits 107.1 is launching with commercial-free weekends.

Darn... WZHT-FM would've been a good competitor. I mean, it couldn't be full time CHR, but it could be one that's Rhythmic-leaning or Rhythmic Top 40, which at least will still have some of it's hip hop songs it used to have and it could be HOT 105.7 still! ;)
