Hitting the streets!

That's so cool! Did you guys get any increased numbers after that?

As much as people think this type of promotion would increase web traffic and listeners - it actually does not. We have been hitting the streets and nightclubs hard with our station for the past year or so and have not noticed any increase in users. We have had over 10,000 beautiful flyers passed out and the ROI is just under 1%.

We have had booths similar to snailboy at huge conventions and fesitvals with djs spinning - nothing.

There are so many internet radio sites out there that the average person does not care or simply forgets to check out the site the next day.

I do admit snailboy that is a great looking booth and wish you nothing but success!

Not to mention, the average person will automatically assume the station is on the FM dial, especially if the station name has a frequency number, like the "Oldies 88" banner I saw in the picture for example. When I was running 2 streams, I also did promotions via flyers, nightclubs and bars, as well as bumper stickers, and I got a 50/50 result with both stations i.e. one actually got attention and TLH and listenership was building up, and the other was attracted by the format, but didn't care too much since the station wasn't on FM. It also depends where your promoting at, what crowd you're aiming for, if any, and what format you are programming that either has a hole in the market, or creating a product better than what FM has to offer.

What I have found to be good for increasing listeners is having DJs that also are also out at public events like festivals, and that do their own events, such as weddings, dance parties, etc. Also, getting listed on iTunes can help as well. Of course dropping the name of the station in every forum you visit once and a while doesn't hurt either. (i.e. America's First 80s Station - http://www.STAR1079.com)

We do see an increase in people checking out the website (s) I do get out to the Bowling Alley and the Ice Skating Rink to dj music for the client (s) I know their are alot of internet stations out on the web, but I am trying to set my group apart from the real ones and the "we are just here". The Zeus Group does have a consultant out of Texas to help the stations move in the right direction. Jocks we have them on the rock station. Thanks for kind words.
