Hitz/Magic, whatever, YOU'RE DISTORTED!

You have to back off of it for it to sound good. And, you have to make sure there is no clipping anywhere in the chain and when those two things happen then the audio sounds like audio and not band saws. It isn't rocket science to make any processor sound good. You feed it good material and don't use it very hard and it sounds good. And any good engineer knows that. Be it digital or analog if you let the music be what it is, pretty much it is going to sound good.

In my 30 year tenure I noticed not so much the engineer being the issue. It lies in a mentality of the top salesman should run the show and he or she only hires those or makes life palatable for those who think like them. To them nothing matters more than setting up buttons and pushing back and forth between radio stations to determine who is "louder". So they compress and limit and clip to the point of no headroom or dynamic range and assume you will listen to them if you are louder than the competition.

But, the truth of the matter is. On an FM station it does not help get the station out, or into the radio any better. The purpose of the processor is to raise the audio above the noise floor of the carrier, not make the PD's nose bleed when he / she / it tunes in the station. In fact it creates signal issues in the fringe areas.

I hear you guys! And feel for the ones who have to deal with it.

Hey Tim get a sales job dude. Might help you out a bit in your engineering it sure will oprn your eye's a bit and your ears too! Hey just use a scope and set it that way if it is so easy. With "30 years in the business" you shouldn't have to rely on the sales department to do your job!!!!
Might need to check the RF hum in you mike BTW...

Hey Mike, are you sure some of 94.1's music isn't pulled off the Web? As I recall, some of it may have been a few years ago. DJ's a sensible, fun-loving guy and would probably enjoy talking with you about what you're hearing.

Mike who? Greta Who?.. 4 posts I don't think you know anything about HITZ 94 or whatever...Until that GSO problem is solved , which will not be.. 94.1 best go back to being a local station as I told them years ago and cover every swinging Dxx thing that happens in their little world and then they will make boo koos of money like they used to in the 50's and 60's.. Some things just don't happen like taking over Triad Radio.. Ask Allen about WSGH.. Nuff Said..You are too big for ya britches.. and ya suck like always.. D. J. Turner isn't a magician!

Wow, Big Ape! Who pi__ed in your corn flakes?

You are right about 94.1 - in fact, the issue of signal applies of a lot of stations in the made-up metro of Greensboro-Winston Salem-High Point. There are a ton of signals that would be better served if they concentrated on the cities they can reach! Unless you have a pure signal in the three major cities, and in Alamance county, you have little chance of making it in the ratings.

There are truck loads of local direct dollors in the towns of the Triad, and very few sales staffs that go after them.

Maybe after Sunny/Kiss moves to Cary--- and its signal moves away from the Triad--- Majic's signal will reach farther? We'll just have to see; WRSN/WKSL is slated to move to the Apex tower, along with G105, by this coming spring.

Yes, but management and ownership will still be the same. Too bad. :p

i hoenstly DO NOT see this happening. need i remind you how CC lets their CP's go down the drain ? look at 100.3, it was supposed to move to the WZTK tower up on bass Mountain in Alamance County almost 2 years ago and what happened? They never moved.

and beside the move would hurt what few but good shares they get from the GSO market.
