Wow is it getting hot in here or what?

I gather from what I've read here that Hitz is not a happy place. If so that's a shame because radio should be a fun gig! We jock types sure don't do it expecting to make tons of money!

The word I hear is that 94.1 has hired a high profile programmer to come in an straighten it all out. I keep hearing the same name over and over but I cant confirm. His/her biggest problem will probably be management. The GM at 94.1 can be a real pain from what I am told by a couple of the present people that work there.

What do you hear?

Wow! This is my first time in a long time checking on radio-info and I'm totally taken back on this heated discussion. I used to work in the Greensboro market many years ago and develop relationships with several employees, of who I still remain in touch with. A few are actually employees of 94. I don't think your opinion of the employees is correct. Rather, I think it's a major case of a few disgruntled employees. After speaking to some market friends, I think it's more like there are a few bad apples in the bunch at 94. Maybe one day those people will find their other "interests" are more important and move on...

Kind of like the old Jackosn Five song.."one bad apple" ? They might have a bunch? Who knows...apparently enough good people there to keep it running.

OnceUponATime - I think that might be the problem at 94.1. People just keep moving through. When you have a management problem, you have a revolving door. You can't keep good people. It's just the ones that have no where else to go that stay put and suffer. It creates mediocrity and that costs the owner big $$$ in revenue. From what I hear on the air, Hitz has some good on-air people and I've been told they have some veteran sellers that other groups would love to have. I think folks are hanging on because the station has big potential. But....for how long?

"One Bad Apple" was by the Osmonds.

WOW! I can't believe some of the shots taken at the HITZ 94 staff. It's obvious that some current and past employees are making these comments. There are some staff members who put in a lot of time at this radio station and those who don't. For the ones who put in the time, they have to worry about their jobs. The ones who gripe the most, who were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, don't put in the hours and they bring nothing to the table. HITZ 94 sounds much better today than it did a year ago. Not to mention the amount of prizes being given away on a daily basis. Too bad the station didn't sound this good a year ago. If a format change happens, it's a shame for those who have worked so hard to make it better.

I totally agree that it would be too bad for 94.1 to change format. I think the on-air people have worked their hiney's off to try and make it sound better, not to mention their first-class production dude! It's just that everyone at that radio station is under the thumb of one person (clue: not the owner), who, if he's not calling the shots, he's throwing a wrench into something someone else is trying to accomplish because he's afraid that he might loose some power in the process. Working for a paranoid control-freak is not easy and it's incredible how people at that radio station have struggled to hold it together in spite of that one manager. Disgruntled few? Ha! All I can say is ...... Once Upon A Time there was an Empror who was not wearing any clothes..... Everyone was afraid to tell him he was naked. The Empror needs to look at himself in the mirror before it's too late. Some people can't even learn from a fairy tale!

Seems that there are two previous posters (both of them 1st time posters, I might add) who claim that people are taking shots at the employees of Hits94. Doesn't seem to me that the employees are a problem. Try reading a little more carefully.
