HLN, Turner Classic Movies, TruTV now in HD

Turner networks HLN, Turner Classic Movies, and TruTV are now in HD. Comcast Atlanta (those headends that have expanded basic converted to digital) are carrying them. HLN and TCM appear to be upconverts, while TruTV is broadcasting HD programming.

Of the Turner networks, only Boomerang and CNN International lack HD feeds.

WOO-HOO! TCM-HD!!!

I dunno if it's upconvert or not. I'm watching Westworld (and next Futureworld!) and the picture doesn't looked stretch like on TBS (Family Guy) or TNT...It really looks good.

Turner Classic Movies in HD.

We all know what the next logical step is going to be, folks...

TCM will start running more "classic" movies from like the 80's and 90's that are more preferable than movies from the 70's or prior to be in the HD format... Oh, and they'll eventually go the AMC route and just go by "TCM"...

Don't knock TCM -- believe it or not, film does look much better in HD than in SD.

I'm with DtotheJ ... and I'm a fan of TCM. I don't think he was knocking it, just predicting what could well happen. I too worry that going HD is going to put big pressure on that network to "sell out." Heck, every other network has written off the elderly senile viewers over 35, so I suppose it's a matter of time.

I hope I'm wrong. I have to wonder, in light of TCM's keeping with their original mission, if Ted Turner put a covenant in the sale of his empire keeping that channel as it is ... not unlike Pat Robertson's deal with Fox and ABC.

TCM does show movies from the 80's and 90's at times, although they've generally been the better ones. They haven't gone the route of AMC and started showing anything they can get. (Yet) ::)
