Hm01 aka Suzy Cubano Countin' down The Numbers

I really gotta wonder if anyone is actually using this or it's just an old, old relic that no one wants to get rid of, for fear of not being able to justify their jobs anymore or something. Here's audio from my QTH in West Central Alaska recorded a few weeks ago.

Plus, what is their target area if i'm hearing it THIS well?

The Cuban numbers station uses the same transmitters as Radio Habana Cuba, so quite a bit of power. Sometimes they screw up and the RHC program audio is mixed with the numbers transmission.

I love the Cuban number stations. I have no idea why they exist anymore. I know why they supposedly existed in the first place but today? It's like the buzzer at 4625kHZ, useless but fascinating to me.

FWIW, Paul. You should air a PSA about the nearest cigar shop. There may be a couple of Cuban nationals looking for a smoke in your area.
