According to VARTV, WTTX (107.1 Appomattox/Lynchburg) has applied for (and will probably receive) permission to operate as a commercial radio station. This is the first time I knew that WTTX was non-comm, as it had true commercials when Wayne Greene and friends were running it.

So, now that WTTX is going to be a commercial entity, will non-comm PAR sell it off soon?

Hey, I think they have applied to go from commercial to non-com. Most of the PAR stations are in the educational band, and are automatically non-comm, couldn't go commercial with those if you wanted to. WYFI in Norfolk (99.7) is on a commercial frequency, but operates as a non profit. PAR has a station in South Shore, KY that is somewhere around 106 (I think) and it operates as a non commercial station as well. They'll probably keep WTTX for a while. It's not one they built from the ground up.

WTTX just applied to operate as a non-commercial station in the commercial band. Positive Alternative Radio is a non-commercial entity and I don't think they can legally run a commercial station. Clearview previously ran the station as a commercial station.
