Hmmm..Is ABC 22 Becoming WJCL?

Here in Savannah, Georgia...I have a curious development

Our ABC affiliate is WJCL alias ABC 22.

I haven't watched their news in eons but it seems like they're gearing up to relaunch the station as WJCL and excise the station's identity as ABC 22. All on-air anchors have been saying, "You're watching WJCL News at 6." The local news promos still show ABC 22. Hmmm...interesting...and abc22tv.com is not working. And wjcl.com redirects to their sister station, WTGS FOX 28. Methinks a change is on the way.

You can polish a turd and call it a diamond, but in the end, its still a turd IMHO.

I can't speak for everyone here but I think it would be preferred if the subject line was more specific about which station you were referring to. When I first saw the subject line I thought the post was about WVNY (ABC 22 in Vermont) changing call letters, which would interest me as that station already changed from WEZF to WVNY well over 20 years ago.

I thought it was about WVNY too. wvny.com still shows it as ABC22.

Being from the South, I'm well aware that WJCL is in Savannah.
However, I can see your point if you live in a different part
of the country (someone might have even thought the post referred
to WKEF/22 in Dayton, which went from NBC back to ABC last year).

Oh I wholeheartedly agree. WSAV trumps all of the other local news.
You'd think Bluenose would revamp both ABC 22 and FOX 28 as their news (no weekend newscasts)and on-air imaging has been severely lacking for many, many years now.

Oh well...I guess they're happy with their descent down the local ratings.
