Hmmm...just an idea for New York

The New York board is all hyped up about News radio 88 (880 AM) repeating itself on 101.1 FM. (eliminating the failing Jack FM)
If this does hapen, shouldn't they bring oldies back to the market by putting them on 880, since that's what the main audience grew up with anyway? AM radio? The music of that time was recorded in mono anyway, so why not?
(Unless it's modern oldies we speak of, then that's another story...)
 
they make too much money on 880 AM to switch to a music format few would listen to. the fantasy that becuz they were in mono in the fifties and sixties is just that. AM is not a viable for music formats anymore
 
WCBS-FM is not flipping to WCBS-AM's news/talk format. It was just a thread started by someone suggesting it.

Like the poster above said, WCBS 880 makes so much money. That would be a bad decision.

If no one has tried oldies yet in NYC, then the chances of it coming back are low.
