Hmmmm... ABC is really Promoting the New California Adventure

Its so funny to see the local O/O ABC station, KGO-TV, having to disclose that Disney is the parent company when they continue to run the opening of Disney's New(Revamped) California Adventure. Their Newscasts have been really promoting it.
 
Yup. The Fox O&O in Phoenix did a location morning show from the new Cars area Thursday.

*nods sadly* Disney's spending boatloads of money on promotion at the local news level for this thing.
 
Son's girlfriend is over there this weekend so I'll have her opinion later this weekend. She is a huge Disneyland fan and has a season pass go I expect she will be positive. From what I've seen though the rides are pretty mundane - same old rides with the major difference being the vehicles patterned after the movie characters.

The morning show hosts who were on-site last week said the environment is unbelievably realistic but, to me, that is a lot of money to spend for scenery.

Oh....and by coincidence, ABC is running the movie "Cars" Saturday night. Pulling out all the stops it seems.

Is that a surprise here No! KGO-TV (Disney O&O) always did features on Pixar and did disclosures of Ownership every time a Disney/Pixar Production is about to come out. KGO-AM (Cumulus O&O) Not so much.

Is there a Cumulus O&O in Phoenix that team up with a Fox O&O? I know a Cumulus O&O WYAY-FM in Atlanta that teams up with a Fox O&O WAGA Fox 5 for news there.

I don't know what any contractual arrangements might be but during the Fox O&O Morning Show they do a couple cut-ins to interview radio personalities. One is on KMLE (Tim & Willy) and the other is KESZ (Beth McDonald). They've been doing this for quite some time.
