HO!..HO!...HO!

Ha! That's slow! Bon Ton in Carlisle put their window display up right after Labor Day!

It wouldn't surprise me to hear Christmas music earlier this year. It's big with clients and revenue needs to be generated now. If this music puts people in the mood to spend more dollars on Christmas this year, I'm all for it. Those all important 4th quarter earnings and the future of a recovery depend on it.....after all, the first quarter is always weaker...even during better times. It's a good idea to get some momentum going.

Personally, I wish that practice of playing "All Xmas, all the time" from mid-November on would die....it was OK for the first couple years when it started on Dec. 1, it was new and exciting, but much like inter-league play in baseball and every reality show known to man, its stale and needs to go away. Much like normal playlists in commercial radio, its the same 300-400 songs over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays, but if I want that amount of Xmas music..CD's and Ipods can fill the bill.Choices are already limited in this market, why not cyut it down even more with 2-3 stations playing all Xmas music...like somebody's playing something different than anyone else???

I'm with Karlyle. The answer to "too much Christmas music" is not "even more Christmas music."

A 15-yard penalty to the Babe who started this thread.

how about an all-Halloween station? novelty songs and scary old-time radio shows. just a thought...

....an let that night guy on 101.3 host it...that's a pretty scary voice!...and ALL my other female friends agree.

Why would you replace Delilah with something like that?

I've had the pleasure of getting to know Ronnie Ramone. One of the most talented, creative, and strategic radio people in all of Central PA. Period!!
Greatest voice in the world? Perhaps not. But he more than makes up for it with what he brings to the station.

The Rose has evolved into an A/C for 20-30 somethings. Delilah's show no longer fit their station. Rose continues to make all the "right" moves. Morning show that genuinely connects with that 20-30 something audience. Great promotions. Take Me Out To The Bedroom is a perfect example.

And I think Rose has the "X" factor---------You're not really sure what they're going to do next. This in a time when the "corporate" stations are just trying to keep their heads above water, the Rose carries on...business not as usual. Bravo!!

...101.3 an AC for 20 - 30 somethings?...101.3 appeals to that audience?
I just showed that to one of my daughter's and her friends (mid-20's) about 101.3 and how "hip" they are.

I'll get back to you after they stop laughing.

And no offense was intended for Ronnie himself.
He may well be the most talented, creative, strategic person in the universe.

Good Luck with all that.

Funny, I didn't use the word "hip" in my description. If hippness is the barometer, than the X is probably the only station that qualifies in Central PA. I just think the Rose is working hard to appeal to "today"s work force." They certainly are spending lots of time at workplaces these days.

And other than their trip to the 80s on Friday, their music seems pretty contemporary. Not as contemporary as an LAN or Kiss, but pretty contemporary nonetheless.

Halloween is now behind us. Ready to venture when the first Central PA station (WARM or Rose) goes all Christmas?

I think as early as next weekend is a possibility.

1390AM has been playing Christmas music all day today - not sure if it is for the long haul or not...

I live on the fringes of WLAN 1390's coverage area and have not been able to hear even a trace of them. Are they having signal problems again. About a year ago the same thing was happening. It appeared they may have been running their night pattern with 1kw around the clock. Even at full power....they don't seem to have the punch that they once had...but that seems to be typical with a lot of AMs nowadays due to increase noise from computers and such. If anyone CAN hear them, are they still playing Christmas music...or are they back to "Timeless"?
