I wish Now 97.5 were still on and the Phillies won the world series, just so that I could hear their excuse for playing Christmas music was because the Phillies won

I wish there was tropo every day so I could hear Christmas music on WJRZ. I like the variety I'm hearing so far.

Radio has conditioned me to accept Christmas music from Halloween onwards.
 
I used to listen to WTKU when I lived in Ocean City, now living in central jersey, I listen to their stream from time to time...they now have a 24/7 Christmas stream...
 
Magic 98.3 might be the next station to go all-Christmas. They just sent a listener survey asking us to rate what Christmas songs we like.

I was looking for that survey on their website and found a all christmas countdown clock. Looks like in 10 days as of 11/9 central jersey has a christmas station. it will be interesting to see how many area stations switch this year my bet around 5 between the jersey,philly and nyc area.

Actually the 107.9 in Lakewood IS a licensed station albeit a LPFM with a fairly decent reach at 100w at only 25ft AAT.

As for Magic offering up Christmas music, I personally think its an "out" to actually programming a station. If I'm not mistaken, the PD at Magic is the same as the one at WJRZ so this seems to fit all too well. Magic is an underperforming station that is LAST on adding currents which means by the time they get around to airing them, they are nearly burnt to a crisp. So for the all too desired "Soccer Mom Crowd" they have to go to PLJ or even Fresh for the "new music" fix. Plus the rotation of songs in their regular format is a bit too repititious for me and I can only imagine that getting worse with Christmas Tunes being dusted off in a week and change...

And NO I am not in their Target Demo but I CAN offer an opinion as to what I hear listening at work. There are some days that we hear the same songs at the SAME times we heard them a day or two prior... VERY strange!

Just my $0.50 worth... :eek:
