true, hockey really not worthy of a #1 news & talk outlet

i can't listen to hockey on the radio for more than a minute. all those incessant "oohs" and "aaaahs" from the crowd just drives me nutty. but
watching hockey on tv is even worse because the camera can't ever find
the puck. it's way too fast to to be broadcast on tv or radio.
maybe wbz should consider broadcasting poker or golf in place of hockey.

At that point, they might as well get just broadcast dead air (because the dead air is likely to get better ratings)LOL !

Well, I really liked hockey when I was a kid--the Bruins won the cup when I
was 8 ('70) and again when I was 10 ('72). I might watch part of the Stanley
Cup Finals but that's about it.

With the Bruins, WBZ will get a core group of faithful listeners but needless
to say the number of them will fall far short of those tuning to 'EEI for
the Sox and 'BCN for the Pats. May even wind up being below the number who'll
tune in to 'RKO for the Celts. Yes, they'll get _some_ listeners and advertisers,
but I think overall their ratings will sag on the nights the B's are on. Although the B's and 'BZ certainly hope otherwise.

A glance at the B's site says the first reg. season game is Oct 5. There will be 9 pre-emptions of Paul Sullivan in favor of, what did Bruds call it, silly
hockey games in the month of October. Also they play every Sat night that month
so Lovell Dyett gets the month off and it also cuts into Pat Desmarais. In fact, Lovell & Desmarais gets November off, too and Sully gets 9 more nights off that month. But the Dec. schedule indicates that Lovell
Dyett will actually get to do 3 shows in that month, and Desmarais will
get to do FULL shows those weeks.

Shot...SCORE!!!!!!!

The strike, which hit after a great Stanley Cup finals, was depressing. The Bruins and the NHL are like NASCAR, both have very devoted, passionate fans, in addition to the casual ones.

I don't know how well hockey does in the ratings, but it brings in a ton of cash, judging by the commercial load.
