Holiday music to arrive early

Yup, as of Friday, Coast 93.3 will be switching to 100 percent holiday music. Why so early? A possible format change? The last time this happened was when WHWY was born and they moved the ticket to Holiday music

I'm sure the usual players will flip after Thanksgiving, but, just a heads up. I think they said Friday at noon (I think..)

No more awesome 80s weekends till Jan.

I just don't know why *** won't rebrand Coast to an oldies format and rebrand Zzzzz to Mix 96.5 I still think that's a great idea.

Magic 93.7 in Biloxi, Magic 96 in Birmingham and the FM translator for AM-talker WBHY in Huntsville (fed via WQRV-HD2) have all been Christmas for a week or so, too.

With Magic in Biloxi and Coast in FWB going so soon, I'm surprise CC hasn't pulled the cord on Lite Mix already. Or Cumulus jumping in with Soft Rock. This area seems to be slow on the pick up, which I'm kinda thankful for.

How sad. I'm curious if they lose listeners this time of year.

you really think they would go all-Christmas every year if this caused a loss of listeners? McFly?

Rob doesn't have a DeLorean, Chris. It's a mule. There is aluminum foil on an antenna and not a flux capacitor. It's not quite 1985, yet and ratings increases for Christmas music haven't been invented yet.

Rob, Why would Charlie Cceng (his real name now) make them change the format of Sunny to this so early is he a grinch in a green suit and strobeys? What a bad way to end the year. I hope the put C2C on that station when they finish this crappy music probably flipping next spring break. ;D

If these stations can sell the yuletide tunes, then I say go for it.

After all, I may entertain the idea of playing them from 6 A.M. on the Friday after Thanksgiving till 3 P.M. on December the 25th, should my LPFM thingy work out and I thought it would benefit me.

Love those songs and the timeless messages they present.

Those timeless tunes are a part of my own upbringing and I will never turn my back on them.

They continue to bless, encourage and inspire me as I listen and sing along to them.

P.S. To Mr. Rob-42, I want to wish you and your household a merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart.

If every Christmas station kept these kind of hours, I might actually get into the Christmas spirit and not be so bah-humbug each year. By the time I'm actually ready for Christmas music, everyone else is burned out.

Ha!

Delorian would be an eye turner that's for sure. BTTF was a great movie. I'd like to see Spielberg do BTTF 2012 - where he goes back in time to when IBOC was invented and ruins it.

I do agree it's tradition to flip, however, let's compromise and just let 1 station per market mmkey?

Cumulus won't be changing any formats in FWB until someone knocks one of their stations out of the top 5. Not likely to happen anytime soon when all Apex had to throw up was Active Rock on 103.1. 104.7 is the only signal capable of competing with Cumulus FWB and the Crestview Radio Mafia isn't for sale.

If rob ever managed to get a diary and Crums had a station with C2C on it, could you imagine the ratings? There would be 25 stations, and Hale running.

I'm very surprised they flipped 103.1 to active rock, one of the crappiest signals in FWB. 99 rock will eat their lunch.

Even with their CP, their signal will be (slightly) stronger but, they need to put the tower on Hollywoooood,

Big shocker is WMEZ 94.1 is still playing Soft Rock..
Haven't flipped yet, maybe come December??

I'm hearing like 1 xmas song an hour on several stations. I don't think anyone's flipped to 24x7, but I don't check on 93.3 or 99.9 very often... I'm not that big a fan of Elton John.

93.3 & 99.9 are fulltime Christmas as far as I can tell.

94.1 is holding out, which is fine by me. With two Soft AC stations covering each market, I think it's OK if one doesn't flip at all. It's not like either station is foreign to people in the opposing market. Yesterday when I was out and about, I heard 94.1 in two different places here in Foley, so at least some folks are appreciating the restraint.

Me too, hearing the same 200 songs over and over again for almost 2 months gets old, fast.

Whoops spoke too sooon, WMEZ is now flipped.. gurr..

and it's not the PREMIERE lady, either it's a local jock.

-Rob

I know, I bet some PD saw this and called the station alerted them about the music.. and laid off some people in the process..
