Holiday Music

On WLYF's website, there is something about them playing all holiday music on Friday. Are they doing it just Friday? Does WLYF go all Christmas or just on certain days such as Christmas Eve/Day and Thanksgiving Weekend?

Does anyone else in South Florida go all Christmas?
______________

Coast 97 should. After all what have they got to lose?

Anyone remember A1A (WAIA)? They would have been better off if they had just stuck with that IMHO.

Re: Holiday Music In South Florida

Since it's my understanding that the climate in South Florida is quite warm, how could songs that sing of "Winter", "Christmas" and "Snow" work in such a warm-weather city??

Wouldn't all-Christmas stations not do as well in warm-weather cities like Miami compared to northern cities where it often does snow during December??

In LA, where it does not even rain that often has had huge success via KOST in doing all Christmas from Thanksgiving week on during the last several years. It does not seem to matter about the lyrics... it is about the mood.

Might it be the large number of Yankees in South Florida? Christmas stations to well here in Charlotte, NC and we never seem to get snow till well after Christmas. It does get cold though and this is the Bible belt so maybe that has something to do with it.

Good question!

Maybe it brings back good memories to those who may have used to live in an area where it snowed.

Hey, people in South Florida like to celebrate the holidays too. My relatives (who recently moved back to New Jersey from South Florida) ended up loving a South Florida Christmas. It was different, but they loved it.
______________

Having lived in S Fla through the 80's. I found folks really got into the spirit much more than the rest of the country. Never saw so many great light displays. Not to mention couldn't beat a chilly December night riding with the sunroof open checking out the lights! Used to love the way the condo balconies were decorated along A1A.
