Holiday Ratings 2024

Looks like the Bus cleaned up on the Santa sweepstakes for listeners.

Does Sunny run the 14 unit blocks of commercials like the Bus does?

Truthfully, I think Sunny's decline is the on-air changes they made over the last year. There are still quite a few former Sunny listeners that are still upset about the change of on-air talent.

You might be right about Sunny. I'm assuming Dino and Stacy got decent ratings, and I think it's a little odd that the new Morning show ends at 8:30 in the morning. Not 100% sure about commercials, but the few times I've sat through commercials on Sunny 95 they were fairly short. Another thing that really surprised me was 103.9 getting a 0.7 in the ratings lol the 94.1 translator got both better ratings and cume.

I would agree that a portion of the results could be the termination of Dino & Stacy and lingering upset listeners. But if I recall the Bus has taken the ratings honors the past few years.

I keep reading that iHearts 14 unit + commercial clusters are poison to listeners. Yet this is an example where despite that annoyance, and I hate to say it, it doesn’t seem to sending listeners for alternatives.

I can agree with that - I know The Bus has always historically flipped early Nov to Christmas and this year Sunny (err Santa 95) flipped within an hour after The Bus did but clearly it did not benefit them.

I believe while many dislike the "early Nov" flip - people in Columbus I know who don't listen to that station any other time of the year KNOW to expect "Christmas in Columbus" generally around early Nov on 93.3 the Bus!

It's interesting to see 103.9 struggle - and it's not because they arn't trying! They have fairly short (all things considered) ad breaks and top-notch talent running the show over at "Country 103.9" but they can't seem to make a dent in the monster that WCOL-FM is (despite the many hours of voice tracked talent and long ad breaks).

Personally, if I am looking to listen to Country Music on FM in Columbus 103.9's my go to before anything else.

I'm with you, they should return to adult hits there's absolutely no competition right now in that format. They don't have to pay any DJs and I'm pretty sure the jack thing was satellite fed when it was on 103.9. So no DJs or programmers to pay

Not only that, but they also added more songs from around 50 years ago. And they sprinkled in some disco tunes like once or twice per hour when I checked their playlist. And, to make matters worse, they also played sleepy '70s music like once an hour mixed in modern artists such as Taylor Swift, Madonna, Jason Mraz, Sabrina Carpenter, Jelly Roll and others. I listened to the station via streaming once and I even heard Luther Vandross "Never Too Much", which is not heard on my local AC station in my area. In fact, none of the top billing AC stations whether it's from Audacy, Cumulus, or any other company mostly play 80's-now and very little to no pre-1979 hits. Sunny is starting to shift towards a classic hits station or a "Jack FM" type format moreso than a typical modern AC.
