YAH-mon! But -- even before the recession -- just paying-the-mortgage for the inflated prices these stations sold for sadly scotched meaningful local H.R. Which is why ANY-modicum-of-diligence is now conspicuous.
 
Take a quick look at the Boston PPM numbers....most stations in RI are showing up...why you ask (seeing as we aren't PPM Market yet)? Because they are already running the encryption on their signal, something Citadel is woefully behind on. If Citadel were smart in seeing this in the last numbers (as those stations didn't appear in the previous month's PPM report) they would be getting it done this week for the August PPM to get a tiny gauge as to what some of the closer counties in the Boston Metro to the RI Metro actually reflect and be ready for the rollout. Just my humble opinion; but in reading stuff elsewhere, seems like many of the smaller markets near the large PPM markets are trying the same thing to test and see what they might expect.

Whether it's diaries or meters, SO MUCH OF the Providence market sample is in Massachusetts that Providence-based talk hosts risk aiming-too-low by working topics that are too-Providence-centric, arcane Smith Hill stuff, or otherwise make Rhody sound-like-somewhere-else to Massachusetts ears. WE might think the Rho Dilun Tawk caricature is cute, but lots of Metro sample chose-to-live-in-the-Bay State-burbs not-to-live-among-it.

Historically, mathematically, Bristol Co. MA sample has been the Providence survey "swing vote." Because Arbitron can also use these listeners in the Boston TSA, it always will be.

What time is the show on? There used to be a day when I would actually know who was on that station.
