Hollywood Reporter: Dawn Ostroff Expected to Exit CW

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/blogs/live-feed/confirmed-dawn-ostroff-leave-cw-64405

Ostroff, who is among Moonves’ long-serving executives, has been weighing a move for some time. Her husband, Mark Ostroff, an executive at Lazard Wealth Management, has been bicoastal, shuttling between New York and Los Angeles for several years. But recently his job necessitated a full-time base in New York. A few weeks ago, say multiple network insiders, Ostroff was in New York looking at schools for her four children.

Of course, the old "spend more time with my family" explanation.

Anyway, couldn't care less about "America's Next Top Model" or the new "90210" (and I watched the original back in the 1990s). However, maybe Dawn did her job, which was putting on a very female-friendly lineup. Sort of like ABC for younger women.

What happens to the CW from here on?

Like I said on another site..

CW has never been great (don't get me started on losing The WB), but I don't even think her departure could make the CW a major force in network television. They have had five seasons...IMO, the name/brand is ruined...nevermind, heck, there was never anything to ruin!

Well, if Time Warner didn't decide to give up on network television (they were persuaded by CBS to enter into the joint venture for the CW), The WB might still be around today. With the advent of digital television and the number of subchannel networks popping out, perhaps The WB could make a comeback, even if as a subchannel.

They need to put some strong shows on and not remakes of shows from the 1990s.

A WB subchannel would be cool...feature WB movies/series and the shows that defined The WB.

The whole WB/UPN -> CW thing has been such a disaster. The WB could have made it and still be around, IMO...UPN, who knows. There was just something so special about The WB compared to the other networks. That was lost, unfortunately, when the CW came on.
