I just learned from a friend in the business who is very close to the situation that 94HJY is finally making a dive into an all news format in 6 months. The company has been extremely disappointed with their performance on the AM side. So apparently they are going to shake up the market with something unexpected in the Fall and cross promote with WHJJ in the hopes that it will increase market share for both stations and compete in a bigger way with WPRO. Currently the internet domain remains parked and I heard that HJY has already secured the right to have it transferred over to them in June. It will be "94news.com" From what I learned it will be News 24/7 just like WINS or WCBS is in New York , but WHJJ will continue to be News and talk like it is now, except they will be introducing a whole new lineup to coincide with "94News" hitting the air. We are talking about a total shakeup of format and talent with everybody getting blown out of the water.
Finally after years and years of stale radio in this town at least it looks like something will be happening to shake things up.
