HOLY COW! WHJY Changing to All News station!

I just learned from a friend in the business who is very close to the situation that 94HJY is finally making a dive into an all news format in 6 months. The company has been extremely disappointed with their performance on the AM side. So apparently they are going to shake up the market with something unexpected in the Fall and cross promote with WHJJ in the hopes that it will increase market share for both stations and compete in a bigger way with WPRO. Currently the internet domain remains parked and I heard that HJY has already secured the right to have it transferred over to them in June. It will be "94news.com" From what I learned it will be News 24/7 just like WINS or WCBS is in New York , but WHJJ will continue to be News and talk like it is now, except they will be introducing a whole new lineup to coincide with "94News" hitting the air. We are talking about a total shakeup of format and talent with everybody getting blown out of the water.

Finally after years and years of stale radio in this town at least it looks like something will be happening to shake things up.

April fools!!

Yea, OK.........and They are going to reinvent the wheel on B101 and bring back BUDDY FM just to piss off The trail.

Ron St. Pierre is behind it and Buddy jumps to WHJY in September on the new NEWS94 or whatever.

Sky:

Sorry...but this year's April Fool news item was just a little TOO "over-the-top". You might have done better with something a little more plausable.

My choice would have been something along the lines of:

990 WALE to make one last desperate attempt to return to the air to avoid license deletion by "The Commission".

Oh crap... Today is April 1st. That's funny. My post still stands. I wasn't making a joke.

Maybe something with B101 would be plausable since alot of classic hits stations have been blown up.If your not joking what would they do with the New Hampshire rock station?

No idea what is going to happen to any other station. My friend just mentioned what is happening to HJY. They will start to phase out airstaff this summer. Not sure if I've said to much. I'm just not going to say anything else.

Paul and AL were just renewed for five years I thought. Where would they go?B101 mornings and move TC to afternoons..makes no sense

don't they get good ratings?? why not blow up wsne instead.

I figured that lol just playing along.

I came here and lied to all of you yesterday. I wish April Fools lasted for two days so that I could do it again today.

I like your spirit but you should have done something a little more realistic.......I would have been hummm on maybe Cumulus forcing NASH Country on the trail and a flip on 106.3 or even 99.7.

Geoff Charles Fired. The network on 99.3 pops up on WPRO-FM since its a cumulus network.Buddy canned,

Any of that I may have believed if it werent on APRIL FOOLS DAY.

Nice try tho...
;D

Years ago I thought 990 would make a good news station. The only things I can see on it now are oldies & brokered religion like what WRIB used to run from 6A-2P. Honestly, I'd rather see oldies on 550!

YEAH, Let's blast Coast 93.3! Ever since they got rid of live DJs in all dayparts, it has become a disaster. How about all news from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m., with Spanish music overnight?!
