What's the deal with WAKS' night gig? Jet Black has been gone for about three months now, and while I wouldn't be in a rush to dump Kasper, given his talent and previous experience at the station, but I'd figure they'd want to find a talented local night guy. I can think of a couple who'd be good for the gig...

Any developments here?

I, too, know of a few jocks that would seemingly be a good fit for WAKS, but as I understand it, Dan Mason is wanting to make sure that he takes his time and makes a solid hire. I can't say as I blame him, truthfully. Meanwhile, I'm certain that WAKS listeners are enjoying hearing Kasper again! :)

That's understandable. I remember WFBC/Greenville-Spartanburg taking like 6 months to hire a new night jock, LOL...and like you and I have both said, I doubt Dan's getting many complaints about Kasper doing the night show. He kicks ass.

I hadn't heard that, but after you said that I checked out that website and sure enough, there he was. Must have missed that...

Another Youngstown alum, Chase, is PD at CC Tulsa's Top 40/M. I worked with him in Raleigh. He's a good kid. And I do mean kid...what's he now...22? 23?

They are the only two people I've heard audition, and it's been a few weeks since I last heard them on the night show. I still think WAKS could do better; Jet Black was a solid hire, I would think they could find someone of his caliber again.

I didn't think in my short time in Cleveland I made any sort of impact, I guess I was wrong...somewhat. For anyone else that is wondering, yes everyone involved in my departure from CC-Cleveland had their hands tied behind their backs. No one, including myself, wanted me to go, but Jim Meltzer has to do what corporate lawyers tell him to. I still love everyone there dearly, Dan, Kevin Metheny, Jim Meltzer, Brian Mack, Katie, the list goes on and on. But, the FCC has made what some of us do for a living, a huge liability, even for accidents like mine. But oh well, all is well that ends well. I stayed with the company and had the opportunity to go back home (I was born in Tulsa, and my parents are in Oklahoma City) and do what I love, without taking a pay cut. So how bad can it be right?? Thanks for all the kind words, and I do know who Kiss has hired for a night person, but I can't reveal my secret. You'll find out soon enough :)

P.S.
For those of you wondering about Chase, his office is next to mine and he is also my boss, as he was elevated to Director of Top 40 Programming for our cluster last week. And yes, you're right he's 22. But so am I...
