Holy Deja Vu

I'm sure it was just a dream...but...I was driving through Tyler real late one night and I was driving northbound on the east part of the Loop. I had driven past where Channel 7 used to be (on the right) and, beyond that a mile or so, I looked over to my left and there was a building there with a big sign on it that said "1490 KDOK...Home of Bill Young." So I decided to go in and visit him and congratulate him on writing the song "Stranger On The Shore," but when I got inside there was an FM station called Y-99 on the air in there and the two-man morning team, consisting of Barry Turner and Mike Connor, and they said Bill was at the transmitter down by the lake (wherever the heck that is) and that KDOK was still there but it was playing automated Country and it's transmitter was right there as was KNUE's...but KEYP's was down at the lake where Bill was having tea and reconstituted beet juice with Judy Jordan and Steve Lundy...and that Mike Selden was actually watching the transmitter (but he wasn't getting a good picture) so he stopped watching it and said he was gonna go down to the New London School and turn on the gas and wait for the place to blow up and invite Walter Cronkite to come down and cover the story but not before he called Jim Reeves and asked him if he and Mary wanted to buy a radio station in Henderson.

Yeah...musta' been a dream.
______________

...and I wasn't in that dream?
Oh well, KEYP paid the bills for me back in the mid 80's.

Mike and Barry -- what a crazy couple of guys. Dave Goldman,
The All-Nighter and others like David Bickle and Alex....
Where have they all gone?

Dreamland, I would guess.

Here's a REAL trip down Memory Lane. Remember KEYP's origins as KFML? How 'bout the house on East Main in Whitehouse where it (KFML) all started?

I'll even go one further. Remember the original format? Made KOOI look like a hot rocker, IIRC.

Wasn't it just east of the Highway on the south side of the street?
______________

Here's one detail I -don't- remember. Who got KFML up and off the ground?
______________

Not sure -- it was rolling before I got there. I went over to
Y-99 and the mid-day girl headed to KTYL. Dave Goldman was
my PD.
