As it appears to me and some of the people I know in the "bizz" Music Midtown has been a huge success while Vibe Music Fest has been lackluster. Sure we can attribute that to rain (thanks a lot Arlene). And remember this was the inagural year. After all Freak-Nic started off fairly small too and then grew into the ultimate black college experience in the mid to late 90s. Or maybe poor marketing and promoting went into Vibe's Music Fest, resulting in the barely-could-fill-a-high-school-gym-auditorium- attendance. Whatever the case may be, it is safe to say that Music Midtown wins this round hands down. I mean plenty of artist that were performing at Vibe MusicFest (ie Ludacris, Kanye West and Common) showed up and performed at Music Midtown. WOW!! That's like a major top 5 morning show personality jumping ship and going to work for a competing station just up the block. Oh wait!! Damn, that DID happen. Well I guess just as Ryan Cameron saw a better opportunity at V103, so did the above mentioned artist.
As a wise Atlanta Braves sportscaster once said, as the Braves fell short of yet another world series championship....."There's always next year"
