What in the world are they thinking:
They canned the morning team cause it had turned into a talk show, I once timed logan and his sidekick, for 22 minutes talking about Wynonna Judds' husbands arrest, well they were gone shortly after that.
Now the morning in turned onto a call in show with most worthless subjects, "Pet peeves", "people who cut in front of you", and the best one last week "people you would love to slap". i would love to slap the person who thought this whole fiasco up. i always thought radio stations played music, which is why people tune in. sure a little banter by the DJ is good, when it relates to the music , the format, format, etc. the morning show has very lttle music which is why i tuned in.
When they brought in a new crew they bumped up the BPMs from the exsisting sloooooooooow programming and that helped immediatly and the rating jumped up a point, since then they have'nt progressed from there, and are stuck in the mid eighties , the worst period in country music, save George Strait and Allen Jackson.
They have four decades to play with, no competion, they dodn't capitaize on either of those facts, instead they want to sound like the other two CW stations , with the exception that they throw in a few oldies. Maybe I got their format all wrong, I thought they were leaning more twowards a Classic Country station.
KIOT is a perfect example of great programming given the same situation, they distanced themselves from the other two rock stations and are are now reaping dividends in the ratings war. The range has been bouncing somwhere in the 2.xx since they reorganized and have gotten real stale.
Rotating PD's from the same school of thought keeps perpetuating the same failure, bring in some new thinking PD's with some new Ideas, formatting the music, which is where the GMs also have gotten away from the music, every thing else will take care of itself if the music is good the listeners will come and so forth.
