Home Run King Hank Aaron passed at 86

Hall of Famer and longtime home run king Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron died Friday morning, his daughter confirmed to WSB-TV in Atlanta. The Atlanta Braves legend was 86.

Aaron, a 25-time All-Star, played in MLB from 1954-76 almost entirely with the Braves organization first in Milwaukee and then in Atlanta. In 1957 he led the organization to their first World Series pennant since 1914. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1982.

He passed Babe Ruth’s on the all-time home run leaderboard in 1974 with his 715th shot. He finished his career with 755. It stood for decades until Barry Bonds passed him and set the mark at 762.

When Al Downing, the Dodgers pitcher who surrendered the pitch Aaron hit for no. 715, met Aaron later at a function, he was asked what he threw. "A sinker that didn't sink," he'd quip to the chuckles of all around.

Apparently Hank Aaron's death is being politicized by conspiracy theorists over COVID-19 vaccines.

No no no! I agree it's sad to see a legend leave but at the same time ages over 80 is when most people start to fade and die off based on current studies on human lifespans.

RIP, Hank Aaron. He and his family showed class when his HR record was about to be overtaken a few decades ago - Much more class than was shown to Aaron himself when he was about to top Babe Ruth's.
