Hometown Media-West Monroe WTF????

Here's a clusterf**** of a grand scale! This company blows into the area with 2 guys who attempt to buy properties everywhere. Since November of last year, they purchased KLIC-AM and attempted to purchase KBYO-FM, KMBS-AM and KWMS-TV. As of August 7th they are officially out of business, having stiffed their employees of 4 weeks pay, including paychecks that bounced and failing to close on the other properties. KLIC-AM, the only property they actually own, has been dark since then and the TV station is being run by a new company under an agreement with the original owners.

The employees have filed a lawsuit against them seeking the back pay. Meanwhile, the owner continues to travel around the country, and when he is home, spends time lounging is his pool(still pays his pool boy), relaxing at his country club that he owns, and affording his wife the opportunity to post on FB about all the shopping sprees, spa visits...etc. The other joker, said owner's manager, cries poor-mouth yet still has a somewhat thriving internet service providing company. Yet the employees are now struggling to make ends meet. Good luck to those employees filing for unemployment as Hometown Media did not send in the payroll taxes which were deducted from each employee's checks.

What a country!!!!

Radio is just a sad industry. I worked at KMBS one time when it was owned by the late Charles "Chuck" Morgan. He was a great guy but even in 1988 he was having to borrow money to make payroll.

KNOE fm 102 is now just a shell of a once great station. I worked there and hate to see what has happened. Another station at which I worked was KMYY y106 which was country. It was a fabulous station and a FUN place to be. It also allowed me to cultivate a taste for country music which I'd never had before except for the occasional Gary Morris, lRonnie Milsap or Restless heart. However that station changed to a hard rock format and plays terrific music so they don't always have a sad ending.
