And you can thank All-80s KQMQ for that as they return to the Mainstream Top40 fold as 93.1 The Zone today(June 27th).

KQMQ are famous calls -- why would they deemphasize them for a goofy name like "The Zone"?!

Makes me wonder... Does Hawaii have an unusual percentage of
teens and 20s? I don't understand how a medium market can
support more than two CHR stations... one rhythmic, one
mainstream.

And why do Hawaiian young people like CHR/Rythmic music so
much? The black and Hispanic audience is not that big. Is
the ethnic Hawaiian and Asian youth audience so into hip-hop?

And in addition to the four Top 40 stations, Honolulu also
has KCCN which is clearly a top 40 sounding Hawaiian station.

Did Hawaii have a baby boom 15-20 years ago we didn't notice
on the mainland?

Famous calls indeed. I remember them from my youth in the 70's as 93 Q when they were AOR. At that time KKUA and KORL were the big Top 40's there.

Oh, I was so happy when I came across KQMQ after they had made the change to Hot A.C. Finally, not having to listen to either A.C. or Hip-Hop/Rap. Up to now I'd been listening exclusively to 101.9, but I've changed over to KQMQ now.
