I can only find one 101.1 in Hawaii, and its on a neihbor island, about 100 miles from Honolulu?????????

KXRG is a new downtown 100 watt station in the Honolulu metro area.

PD is Wes Keene, MD is Teri Keene.

The station is not on during morning drive (for time sharing purposes mandated by the FCC), but is on from midday, through afternoon drive to the "clubbing hours".

The cool thing about Oahu is that it's surrounded by water, so there is less interference for a lower power station to deal with then in most locations. (fewer directions for interference to come from)
______________

Last I heard, it's being worked on. It's a station hitting half of Philly and hitting most of another market.

I'm sure nothing will be announced until things are firm.
______________

Non-commercial... Low Power... Just like the former Energy 88.7 in Chicago.

Thats cool, so the programmer of www.thedancestation.com is the PD for this station. 100 Watts will cover a good Chunk of Honolulu, especially if the stick is up high, and-or not surrounded by tall objects, They probably will get some interference from the 70,000 watt Modern Rock station, located 104 miles from Honolulu, on a Neighboring island, according to www.radio-locator.com

Half of Philly sounds pretty good, and it's awesome that it'll also completely reach another market.

Keep us updated.
Edited by CHRles on 03/09/06 06:24 PM.

They(KXRG) might have to move to a new signal soon since the FCC just gave that Modern Rock outlet the green light to move to Honolulu last year(2005).

BTW here's proof:

Very interesting. I was just in Honolulu a couple of weeks ago and was wondering why there were 4 CHR's in Honolulu now (3 of them rhythmic)and no dance music on the air. Being from AZ (EnergyArizona listener), I wondered if they'd ever have an Energy or NRG in Hawaii. Glad to hear it.

Would be better if they moved to a bigger and better signal anyways ;)

R-L has it listed as being off the air, that's why it won't show up doing a search. I looked it up as KXRG (from an above post), and it came up easily.
