Hope for FM Radio in the Western DFW area?

I have been tuning the dials to my favorites (99.5 and 96.3, etc.) but I have found the perfect station that plays my favorite music (Classic rock, country etc....). KYQX 89.5 FM in Weatherford, TX. (TX in Mineral Wells at 4.5 kW planning to upgrade to 26 kW) I have to say, for a community radio station, they play better music than any other station in the Metroplex!

I wonder how much the signal will improve with the upgrade?

looks like from radio-locator that its reach will extend the middle of weatherford almost to the eastern edge of weatherford :)

have to admit i catch them whenever i travel west on i20, can usually stay tuned from weatherford to almost ranger hill. it is a completely refreshing mix of everything with a real hometown flavor. i dont know how they can get away with the "supporter annoucements" like they do, but who cares, its a great listen.

Talked with those guys a couple of times. They clear the wording for all their announcements through an underwriting copy person for a much larger non-comm station and subject it to clearance from their communications attorney. Their underwriting has been of great interest to me, wanting to do 'hometown' radio but without the cash to play in the auctions. They limit the number to FCC suggested guidelines and promote it as 'quality messages' designed to inform, educate and make their listeners recall their supporters when a product or service is needed. What a great concept for non-commercial radio..great music, local voices, lots of local information.
