Hope The Ticket hasn't sold any Desperados Ad Packages

The Rocky Mountain News (Denver) and ESPN.com are reporting that Arena Football League is set to cancel the 2009 season by Friday with hopes of returning in 2010.

Didnt the USFL and XFL both say the same thing??

True but this scenario is a little different than both of those ;-)

The USFL staked its very existence on a court verdict against the NFL. They won the case but didn't get the verdict they wanted and collapsed under the massive amount of debt the league had wracked up.

The XFL was a gimmick league that saw its audience erode by 50% after the first week.

Arena League is actually growing in popularity and there are some pretty big name owners involved.

Too bad the UFL is set to begin play in 2009 (so they say). And they appear to be using the mistakes of the many many other failed "professional" football leagues as a guide of what NOT to do.

They are getting a little press as they plan on making a run at Vick when he gets out of the po po.

I'd watch it before I'd watch the AFL.

If they were smart they would get it up and running then work to become a feeder league for the NFL (unofficially) since nothing sports related exists to the NFL outside of themselves.

WOW that sucks because I actually like watching Arena ball. Its fast paced and is a good filler(for me at least) for when the NFL returns in the fall. That and I'm glad I didnt try out this year. Gonna miss those Desperado cheerleaders. ;D

arena league could be fun and huge if re-imaged as say NFL Arena...32 teams that mirror the nfl. Tell me you wouldn't be more interested in watching the indoor Cowboys take on the Giants in march. .same uniforms and everything versus whatever we've had in the past.
