Hope This Info Is Incorrect

If it isn't then Moody will only have one voice, in Selma Alabama, when they return next year.

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/info?call=W232AN&service=FX

When I saw this, it just blew my mind.

Oh well, you can't get everything you want.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Speaking of Moody, WRNF is scheduled to sign on in January. I'm still excited about that. Whatever does happen to W232AN 94.3 FM, I hope the owner(s) and the programming will have success once it signs on.

I just found some more info about this translator station. According to the FCC database, this translator will still be owned by Rev. Glenn King but will do a rebroadcast of WHPH from Jemison. I find that to be simply amazing. For more info about this change, please visit this link: http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws...xt=25&appn=101223470&formid=349&fac_num=66024

This one simply blows my mind. Hope Mr. King will have success with "The Peach" from Jemison/Clanton once he signs on this station.

P.S. Since Moody will now only have one voice, in Selma Alabama, I'm going to have to adjust to this. Oh well, you can't have everything you want.

I would trust recnet before I would radio-locator. Radio-locator tends to have a lot of errors.

I pulled up the record for W232AN on the FCC website. There's no mention of Great Wireless owning that translator.

On recnet, the record shows that Moody sold the translator to Grace Baptist Temple (Is that a church there in Selma?). The information states it's going to rebroadcast WMBV, which is one of Moody's stations. Moody probably originally filed the application with WMBV as the rebroadcasting station, but that might have never been updated once the translator changed hands; it could be that Grace Baptist doesn't intend to rebroadcast WMBV. It's happened before. WAY-FM has a couple of new translators they're going to be operating in the Birmingham area, one of which they bought from Edgewater Broadcasting. After the sale, the FCC record wasn't updated right away and it listed WJSP-FM in Warm Springs, GA as the rebroadcasting station (that Edgewater filed) rather than WAY-FM's Huntsville station, WAYH.

From what I just posted, it looks like WHPH will be the station, that'll be heard on 94.3.

REC Networks needs to update this info, if the FCC database link is accurate and correct.

P.S. Yes that Church is still here in Selma.  It's located on Martin Luther King Jr. Street, in East Selma.  This Church is located around the corner from, the location of, this new radio station.

That's really odd, that a reverend would want to operate a translator rebroadcasting a secular station. I did see the information on the FCC website that you mentioned on your second post (about WHPH being the rebroadcasting station). The email address on the form has "WJUS" listed in it. I pulled up the info on WJUS and it says it's owned by Grace Baptist Temple, the owners of the translator. Maybe the translator is going to rebroadcast WJUS instead?

I don't get that myself.  It does seem odd that a Black Preacher, would want to rebroadcast an Oldies station, instead of a Black Gospel station like WYVC from Camden and/or WHLW from Montgomery.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Oh well, nothing really suprises me any longer.

Several translators have received STA's to retransmit AM stations, but I don't think they are showing up in Recnet yet with the correct originating station. Also, a number of AM station owners are buying translators on a speculative basis, since the FCC has already proposed rules to make this a standard practice. Since many of the translator CP's expire soon, the owners need to sign them on with something until they can legally repeat an AM station, thus the reason for repeating the Jemison station.

Just got this info from the previous owner of W232AN: Interesting indeed. Rev. King has not told us of any change in stations to re-broadcast… he even asked us (and we did) send him a letter granting permission to re-broadcast WMBV.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Now I'm really confused on this one. Which station will King rebroadcast on here. Only time will tell.

Re: Hope This Info Is Incorrect (New Info On 94.3 FM)

Just found out that the previous owner, is now checking with Rev. King to see what his plans are for 94.3 FM.

Hope it turns out to be another new Gospel radio station for Selma.  We need it more than we do an Oldies station.

R.D.P. <><

Well I can tell you that it will not be rebroadcasting WHPH. A friend of mine works for Rev. King and said that was filed by mistake. It will most likely be a religous station on the translator for now.

A nice collection plate donation, perhaps?

Seriously, rebroadcasting an oldies format isn't the worst thing in the world. Secular, yes, but also pretty safe listening for all ages.

Now that I'm discovering that the Rebroadcast of WHPH was "Filed by Mistake", won't the FCC take action against Mr. King?

I always thought that if you made any "Mistakes" on a FCC file, that you would be held accountable for your actions.

Oh well! It doesn't look to good for him, if I'm right.

I don't know why the FCC would. Looks at all the hundreds of applications and CP's that Edgewater/Radio Assist (and whatever other names they're using) have on file at the FCC with the incorrect station to be transmitted. Most of those CP's have expired now, but I remember seeing all sorts of stations being listed, some of them were public radio stations too rather than christian ones (that doesn't make sense because Edgewater is supposed to be a christian organization). I figured most of those applications Edgewater filed they just put whatever station they could on there because something had to be listed on the application. If that's the case and they were trying to circumvent the application process that way, that's a shame because christian broadcasters shouldn't be doing that sort of thing.

I thought WYVC went off the air permanently or something? ???

It was off the air for a while, but did eventually did come back on. The license expired and the calls were deleted at one time, but both were reinstated back in January '07. The record on the FCC website has WYVC licensed; the license expires Apr. 1, 2012. Here's the info from a previous post about the reinstatement.

WYVC never left the airwaves During their Deleted phase, they were still broadcasting "The Best Gospel Music and Programming Around".

By the way, they still broacast in glorious mono, for those wondering.
