Horrendous Audio on DRC-FM This Afternoon

I don't know if they had some sort of equipment failure this afternoon but when I was listening between 4pm and 5pm it was gritty and distorted and lower than others on the dial. Anybody else notice this?

I did, I've heard it occasionally in the past few months as well. I remember hearing DRC has been dealing with the nightmare that is AT&T.

I remember those days all too well, but that was back in the days when AT&T had guys who were well versed with those lines. I tuned in a couple hours later during Tom Kent and they were back to normal.

I heard it the other day. Might have been Monday. The music was fine but Floyd's microphone and the hook up to Nicole Davis in the Traffic Center sounded horrendous.

That was probably from however they connect to their traffic folks (phone hybrid, Skype, etc). What I heard affected all audio and while Floyd's mic sounded bad it couldn't be differentiated if it was a separate issue from the apparent STL issue.

I was under the impression that DRC-FM actually had a microwave link and that the phone lines were only backup.

Maybe if we're lucky Tom Ray can be shook loose from Buckley's mothership in New York to clean up the mess. He did it once before.

Tom Kent is one of the worse shows ever. when he comes on I tune out.

I think Scott Baron can handle the technical side of things.

Yeah when Tom Kent starts it is usually when I turn the radio off as well.

I also tune out Mister "Gargantuan". He is just plain awful! :(

As for the WDRC-FM audio, it's even more obvious in the headphones. I have a button on my radio which cuts most of the music and noise in the foreground (sometimes creating a cool effect on drum-heavy tracks!). Anyways, it didn't seem as bad earlier, but I definitely noticed it in the afternoon on Thursday.

What makes Tom Kent unlistenable is that he does not fit DRC-FM's current image or heritage. His act is like screeching chalk on a blackboard. Maybe he fits better on some of his other stations. I also don't like Billy Bush on TIC-FM because he sounds too canned.
