I'm usually one to not compliment Hot 107.9, but I heard a little bit of their "Halloween Mix" in the car this morning... Thriller into Somebody's Watching Me into Ghostbusters. I arrived at my destination then, so I don't know what came next, but I wish I could have stayed. It was a nice way to get into the "Halloween spirit," no pun intended.
Well OK, I guess I do have some slight "Hot-bashing" to do:
1) Even though Rockwell's the primary artist on Somebody's Watching Me, there's still some Michael Jackson in there... artist separation, people! Even a move as simple as flip-flopping it with Ghostbusters would have sounded better. I wasn't sure if it was Halloween montage or Nat'l Pedophile Day. (Just kidding, but it sounded weird to hear the vocals of Thriller fading out as MJ's "who's watching" background intro vocals were beginning.)
2) The other thing... Ghostbusters. The "mix" version was awful. Usually I like dance mix versions of songs... it's neat to hear a different version of a familiar tune. But this was the 1 case out of 100 where the original, classic version would have been much better.
Other than that, good stuff. Even despite my nitpicking, at least you had Halloween tunes on... if Ted and Amy ever had "20 in a row," it would refer to how many minutes they go on talking for. And yes, sometimes chit-chat is entertaining, but usually it isn't.
I generally like the Throwback Fridays, the 80's and 90's stuff is cool. Whether it's a classic song everyone loves, or a "trendy" song you laugh at when you hear it for the first time in 10 years, it's usually fun to listen.
