HOT 107.9 STOPS THE MUSIC

With the recent number of bullying and teens being killed here in Metro Atlanta, HOT 107.9 has decided to stop the music Monday 7pm-9pm. Im so happy they are doing this since HOT 107.9 is basically the local station for Hip-Hop catering to teens and younger adults. HOT 107.9 did have a weekly show from 9pm-10pm on Mondays called "Express Yourself" where teens would call in and express local issues going on in local sholls and on the streets, but it was hosted by Ryan Cameron who is now with V103. Maybe they can bring that show back beacuse it was positive and no other station in town is doing it.

On a positive note, Radio One Atlanta and local/syndicated host CoCo Brotha hosted the STAND Campaign over the weeeknd at the Georgia Dome. Didnt go, but I heard it was standing room only

Yeah, V-103 did the same this morning for its entire morning show from 6-10AM.

Ohhh, so thats why I heard someone from HOT say "told ya they'd copy us." Gotta love the Urban wars.

I guess so. It could be argued either way about who copies who. The same thing tends to occur in DC with WPGC vs. WKYS as well. I've always said that CBS Radio and Radio One's Atlanta and Washington stations tend to be mirrors of one another.

Perhaps - but CBS would never blow out the airstaff of a top-rated radio station in one fell swoop, much like that "disappearing act" on Majic 102.3 in DC a few months ago...

True, but CBS has a very small handful of urban stations compared to Radio One. Interestingly enough, all of them are major moneymakers although some of them aren't #1 in their market these days. They apparently know not to struggle the "goose that lays golden eggs".
