Hot 107.9

Why are they "calling in" a whats supposed to be a HOT hip hop station in Philly? Doesn't make sense. Syndicate mornings with Rickey Smiley (which personally is a good show BUT not for Philly. Too down south), now I hear they are VT'ing middays from their "Hot" station in Atlanta. No one LIVE until afternoons? HUGE mistake. This is Philadelphia. Which is actually a bigger market than Atlanta. Wow...thats awful. Do they not care. I thought they did with the hiring of Q Deezy who used to work at their competition, Power 99 for years and most recently for the syndicated Big Boy's Neighborhood Morning Show out of LA. If Radio One is trying to save money and cut like other corporations are doing..ok...BUT not from one of what's supposed to be your biggest stations. At least it's in one of your biggest markets

The 107.9 signal is "challenged" to say the least. Radio One isn't going to invest too much into localizing it. They wouldn't be able to bill much more with a live & local staff than by just automating it, simply due to the weak signal in the western part of the market. I'm sure it does well enough to pay the bills and make a small profit. WRNB is their primary station, and Hot & Praise flank it for sales buys. I know it sounds cold and corporate, but that's how it works nowadays.
