Hot 95.7 Growing too fast?

The numbers are growing but are they growing too fast?
It has been said before any new station fears fast growth. They like steady growth. Thought being fast growth means fast burnout. Steady growth means steady she goes.

The station sounds real good. By far the best sounding station in Houston. Sorry K-Hits your sounding great but Hot has a few better formatics.

Im my opinion Hot 95.7 sucks! I liked it at first but it became boring

It does seem to be growing fast, but it seems steady. Sure, eventually there may be a plateau. But I don't see any reason why it would go downward.

HAHA..first its "Wow, there's finally a new top 40 in H-Town!! ... How cool will this be!! ... Houston really needs a top 40 competition war" Now its, "Is it growing too fast?"

I guess there's always a negative with the positive. lol. Lets give it awhile and see. Either way, this is a fun battle that is Healthy for H-Town radio :)

Too fast growth...........? I'll take it over the stations that now yielded their listeners to that "growth". HOT will make several stations re-define which lane they will drive down in the future. Its good for listeners and advertisers. New choices are always good.

HOT seems to being growing well but in the 6-17 demo. That doesn't do the salespeople any good. It's not the money demo. It's still early in the game for them but they seem to be staying the course. Any news on a morning show?

I'll have to disagree and laugh at you for this one. Yeah, HOT is growing very well in the 6-17 demo. But you present it as if that's the only demo it's growing in, which is incorrect.

Yea, it is 100% customary and normal for new top 40's teen numbers to boom first. The "kids" always find the station first. HOT is number 1 with teens at night with an almost 18 share! Worst to first!

I think Hot is great for radio in Houston. The WOW factor is exactly what I am talking about. The statement it is getting boring now is exactly what I am talking about. My thought process stands to reason just reading the blog reply on burned out already. No I am not insulting the reply, but the reply showed a burnout factor from the WOW factor. Radio stations that grow too fast are often gone with in three years. This is very interesting. Truth be known I do not like Top 40 music but will listen because of the great formatics used. It is a real Top 40 station with a slight Urban sway. That is interesting because for the most part is counter programing 104. Counter programing is very effective. Hot knows this. There are some smart old timers programing this baby. They have bought a unique touch to a old format. I wish them well.

My guess is soon 104 will make a move too keep the listener from changing the station. My guess at this point it will be $$$$$$$$$! The Summer should be very active in Top 40 radio in H Town. I just thought since Hot is giving 95.70 away if you call back. Well 104 could top it by doing the same idea by giving $8.31 more giving away $104.01

I think 104 is'nt throwing the towel just yet, The Heritage Top 40 station will do anything to keep its listeners stay tuned. In the words of Larry Sanders; No Flipping. I believe the will be flipping at both stations between KRBE & KKHH. 104 might do something like giving away $1,041 to some lucky listener after he/she heard the song of the day.

Its new and different, so teens find it attractive. The best thing you could do to keep "teens" listening to radio would be to radically alter the format every six months.

As for adults, its just plain unlistenable.

I disagree sir, it's indeed VERY listenable. I'm gonna go ahead and guess you're not a female, 18-34... or 18-34 period. ::)

Re inventing the wheel. I do not believe in fixing what is working. I do not think 104 will do anything like that either. I think that Hot is doing everything right with maybe a exception or two.

KRBE I do predict will soon do something to freshen up the sound. That is not re inventing the wheel in my opinion. KRBE is up against the wall with some very stiff competition.

The only real concern is I believe Hot may be too hot and could get burned out. Then again Top 40 is about getting burned out.

Now my new love is calling me and I am not burned out!

One station is aimed at high-schoolers, a CHR programming practice for years and years; the other is aimed at a substantially older audience.

The 'money demo' doesn't listen to top 40 radio nearly as much as it used to during the sixties, seventies, eighties and very early nineties; the onslaught of rap and hip hop, the debut of classic rock, smooth jazz and Hot AC stations from 1984-92 cannibalized the adult listeners from dozens of onetime CHR/Pop powerhouses, and led to a rapid abandonment of the top 40 format by listeners, as well as a plunge in the number of top 40 stations nationwide.

Hot 95.7 isn't growing too fast; when was the last time Houston had a top 40 station explicitly aimed at high-schoolers and young adults?

It has shaken up the market, as most successfully launched radio stations are known to do, regardless of format.

And KRBE has barely moved in the PPM 18-34 results, so KKHH has hardly made a dent in them.

So where have Hot's numbers come from? I supect their demos are heavily tweens to early twentysomethings, so KRBE might skew too old for them.

Maybe KPTY?

I really like to listeningto KRBE...they are on my Topo 5 stations to listen to online! Hot 95,7 should go Rhythmatic and do not compete with 104. How will KRBE throwl in the towel! Are thy're ratings not good?

Another bad speller. Oh well

KKHH does sound a bit younger KRBE. It's too rythmic. I'm beginning to think KKHH is not after KRBE numbers, but more like KPTY and KBXX listeners. Who knows, maybe Houston has wanted a rythmic leaning TOp 40/CHR station all along.

HEY oldjohnny!

I was typing without looking at at the keyboard.....ahhh...what u think about that? Oh well.
