Hot 95.7 Hip-Hopping

Started noticing some changes to Hot 95.7.

First ( maybe I just haven't paid much attention to the station) but I haven't heard "Your Latina Girl Carmen Contreras".

Not really sure if that's her name though.

Also I'm starting to hear more hip-hop music the station is starting to sound more like 97.9 The Box to me.
Even noticed they have a new DJ and he sounds African-American with a Hip-hop format .

Thanks, never left just don't post much. Been reading everything.

Back to the subject, what's going on with Hot? Are they flipping formats? Or is it just that the hip hop songs being played are what's (HOT) at the moment?

97.9 is the worst rap station in the country the only play stuff that is only 2 years old and play the same 50 tracks over and over they sound like 44 Hiphop Nation on XM Radio nothing to do with H Town. I hope 95.7 switches to 90s rap playing mostly southern and west coast rap. Boom is decent but like 70% of the playlist New York rap 70% of the play list should be Southern and West coast Houston has way to good rap music form the 90s to ignore it.

They must be doing something right... tied for 4th in billings out of 58 commercial signals in the market and averaging 1st in 18-34 and 3rd in 18-49 in the market.

97.9 is doing will because the 13 to 22 yrs they jam it all day long they want to hear the same Drake and Kendrick song 3 or 4 times day.

The advertisers wouldn't buy time on a station that was strongest with kids and teens. News flash: The average radio listeners of ANY format don't mind repetition if the repetition is of songs they like. Rap's been mainstream since the late '80s. It has a large adult audience now.

Actually, their strongest demo is 25-34. And, at 70 spins a week for the powers, they are not anywhere close to the 100+ spins a week on the CHR stations and about the same as KQBT. And in teens, they rank lower than in any of the young adult demos they target.

I asked about this a while back but found out. Carmen is no longer there (surprisingly), which now gives the station both a night and midday position to officially fill. Other than that, it sounds like normal to me, with the mix of hip hop and pop music. KRBE has slightly added a little more hip hop as well.
