I just heard former KXXM/San Antonio jock "Mo Bounce" on Hot 95-7!

Looks like CBS is making a great decision.

....If they want to go Urban maybe, what's with all the urban leaning jocks on this station. It would suggest you've tuned into a hip hop and r&b station, yet they play Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. This actually brings up a good point, is this station Top 40 Rhythmic, or more Mainstream. The music, to me, tends to be more mainstream. Shouldn't the jocks be as well?

Mo is a great Mainstream jock... why would you call him "urban"?

CBS is really putting alot of planning into this endevor. I think they just want voices on the air now, You got to get your name out there even with ppm. There is a pot of gold for CBS if this works out for them. That pot of gold will help this entire market! When was the last time a new station with a stick came on and played hard? The last time a station came on this strong was Energy 96.5 and then Mix 96.5. This is important to everyone in radio that 95-7 is a hit, or it could mean fewer jobs in radio. 104 it a great station that will be tweeked to meet they challenge. Hot 95-7 has a real edge now, but do not think that 104 will just let it happen. More so what about the BOX they may be hurt more than 104 with the dial position. 95-7 does need to expand the re current list and play more of the {Top 40} but they sound good!

I don't see The Box being hurt much by Hot. Yes, Hot is a Rhythmic, but it's customized for Houston. They'll play all the big Dirty South records, but they'll also play some intelligent Hip Hop and a bit of Dance in their latenight mixshows.

The stations that Hot is likely to hurt the most are Party 93.3 and especially 104 KRBE, so long as Jan Jaffries/corporate is dictating the playlist rather then letting the market decide what Top 40 songs fit best.

Hot is Rhythmic?? Explain the Jonas Brothers, Paramore, One Republic, Miley Cyrus. Hot does play dance music, and some hip hop, but it also plays these others. By default, that makes them Mainstream. I don't know of any Rhythmic Top 40 station that would be caught dead playing Jonas Brothers. I agree with your assessment that The Box won't be hurt by them. I would also say that KRBE is their direct competitor.

Question? How many Box listeners look for the dance with hip hop?

Torminator that was a typo - I meant to write that The Box is a Rhythmic. Hot 95.7 is DEFINITELY a CHR/Pop station ;)

The Box isnt really known for Dance music, but they do throw a little bit of it in the mix after 10 PM.

I haven't heard true dance on the airwaves here in a few years. When I say dance, I'm meaning Artists like: DJ Encore, Cascada & Ferry Corsten, just to name a few. I assume when we hear that the BOX is playing dance music , they are playing booty-dance music ;D

The only station giving you Mo? haha. That's 2 "Mo's". nice.

All you need now is Larry and Curly, and its 1935 all over again. ;D

Congrats to Dave. He's one of the "good people" in the industry. He doesn't get caught up in a lot of the hullabaloo. He deserves it.
