Hot 96.9 Throwbacks

nd2023

I'm enjoying the 90% gold Rhythmic CHR format on Hot 96.9. It's very unique, haven't heard a similar format elsewhere around the country. This is like the "oldies" station for 20-somethings.
How well is it doing? Do you think such a format will catch on and spread to other cities?
I think it's more focused than the Gen-X format.

Having not been in Boston since August of 2012, I have to ask: Is this like the Back In The Day Buffet which JAM'N 94.5 used to do on weekdays?

Yes

yes it's like Old School Buffett, same same.
I t would be nice if they played more r&b like Jade, 5 Star, Oran Juice Jones, Bobby Brown, Alexander O'Neil, Starpoint, Luther Vandros, D Train, Grace Jones

This station changes format more often than they change their underwear. Sounds like another Greater Media failure.

Not really... that was a 1 hour mix show. The gold titles are a part of WBQTs regular format (and since they came on the scene, Jam'n has done the same thing.

Omnibus, do you only change your underwear every 14 years? That's how long 96.9 was talk. Or is it over 23 years, the length of time they were beautiful music?

There was some instability in the 90's while Greater Media was playing musical chairs with their new signal acquisitions and their formats, but that didn't really speak to the station. I mean, they bounced country around 4 of their signals... Doesn't seem brilliant but it worked out in the end, didn't it?

Let's take a look at the other Greater Media "failures:"

WMJX - over 30 years as a legendary AC station, still live and local 24 hours a day.
WROR - Outlived WODS, going strong for 18 years now.
WKLB - The OTHER Greater Media station that has elicited a response from Clear Channel. First, they tweak the format of Jam'n. Then, when WKLB is the only station in the market able to knock Kiss 108 off its perch atop the ratings, CCM+E launches The Bull as a flanker. (21 years for WKLB, BTW)
WBOS - I guess you could call it the weak link, but 6 years as alternative? Not too shabby.

I'd love to experience that kind of failure.

Omnibus I know you are nursing wounds from an industry that never recognized your great talent, but you are posting more about things you apparently have little understanding of...

WBQT was one of the most successful launches of a radio station and is being held up as " the way to do it right".

And how long was 96.9 a talk station? And when was the last time you changed your underwear ?

Can you make any analysis beyond your hearsay and personal version of reality. ?

If you demand accolades in this industry would should seek help immediately. Nonetheless, thank you for recoginizing my "Great talent."Fortunately, never been in any hand to hand combat to have wounds to nurse but that must be your experience since it is something to which you constantly refer. As to 96.9 how many reformats have they had since they dumped talk?

LOL there's been one format since the switch from talk.

Stunting isn't a format... but I know that fact doesn't support your narrative.

No one is demanding accolades...success is recognized by itself.

Ummmm...one?

Some people have an opinion...and they are not going to let facts get in the way!

An attempt at a slam at Gr. Media...regardless of facts.

Credibility = 0
