I'd be very surprised - I don't see them parting with this signal anytime soon. Especially since they seem to be investing a large influx of cash into the station in the form of imaging directors, personalities and such.

Dream on Mike. I think Greater Media is very happy owning 5 monster powerful FM's.

Oh yeah, in case you haven't noticed, angry white old man radio is on the way out.

It is kind of funny to read people trashing 94.5 on this board, but they think Hot 96.9 is good so far. The songs that Hot plays were almost all played by Jamn in the past, or still are now. Hot 96.9's slogan could be "Hot 96.9: Playing all of Jamn's hits from the 90's to today!"

Jamn has been criticized on this board for not being "urban" enough through the years, but now a station playing the same watered down urban/rhythmic music is being praised for being "different." (because they play more old songs and less currents I guess?)

So far Hot has ex-Jamn air talent, an ex-Jamn PD, and an ex-Jamn play list. Basically they are just whiter, older version of Jamn. It could be successful, but lets not pretend it is anything all that different or good.

Now I thought that was the whole point; to be an older version of Jam'n. They are not exactly the same animal though, playing a lot of Michael Jackson is a big plus!

Right, they aren't the same animal. Hot is pretty close to what Jamn was in 1995-99 timeframe. They played some current hits, mixed in with a good amount of recurrents and gold, and some old tracks from the likes of Madonna, Bob Marley, Prince and Michael Jackson. The new hip hop they played was safe. If I remember correctly, Jamn played more currents back then than Hot does now though.

Jamn dropped a lot of those old tracks around 98/99 I think, and then went more Urban in 99/2000 when Hot 97.7 went on the air. I think they shifted back to a more pop sound around 3 or 4 years ago.

I thought Entercom was capital B Broke!

Being in radio imaging would be perhaps more fun than being an actual radio DJ these days.

I think it's more lean Urban time again for JAM'N.

I remember at one point in the beginning when Jam'n actually was doing better in the ratings than Kiss! That is the Hot 96.9 that I hope they be (not beating kiss, but rather the format that they were back then.)
