HOT 96 EVANSVILLE'S BOOKER AND SARAH

Congrats to Hot 96's morning team of Booker, Sarah, and producer Falen. They won the Best Morning Show in Indiana award at the annual Spectrum Awards held recently. Whenever I'm driving though I alway tune in. They sound really good in the morning. Very deserving.

The cool thing about the show is these are 3 really nice people.. and yes very deserving!

Regent is trying to do their best.. But, since the Clear Channel days, Kiss-106.1 has been flipping the morning show from local to syndicated and back.. And with the 'smooth running machine" of B & S at 'STO, added the 100kw monster with an ADI coverage that Kiss can't touch, and the fact they are in the class act of ownership groups (South Central, where WIKY rubs off on every company outlet, with maybe the exception of "The Jack" in the box/closet), It's hard to beat Hot-96.... ::)

Dude WIKY and Hot 96 have nothing to do with each other.. they are owned by the same cluster but run 2 totally different programming ships... the main reason Booker and Sarah do so well isn't because of who own them.. it's because of the CHEMISTRY they have with each other on the air.... that's what a good morning show is all about!

I go to Evansville on occassion. I like Van & Nikky B better. They rock...

WHAT? Some 50 year old white man and some young in-experienced ghetto girl? Ohh yeah what a pair on a RHY/CHR!

Wow, radiogeek, to call her ghetto is so racially insensitive. Radiogeek, you must be some in-experienced honky guy. I'm white, and I know its wrong. You should to. Who cares about the experience. Whatever brings in the audience will do. I like what's popular, not what's experienced...

You have no clue who I am, or what I do! :0)

Ghetto has nothing to do with race... I dont like the sound she has on air.. black or white, she's not good.. I'm sure she's a nice girl.. she needs someone to work with her and develop the talent more.. Van & Nikky B = Regent's Way To Do A Cheap male/female combo morning show to compete against HOT...

I do understand as far as development, but to call her ghetto is unexcusable. Why didn't you call Van ghetto? You can try to make up for it, but in the end it was a wrong choice of words. Very wrong choice. I've done my fair share of research on her and she is originally from Carmel,IN. If anyone knows the Carmel area of Indy, it is far from ghetto. Lets be real...

Van isn't ghetto.. it's a old white guy on a hip hop station, give me a break!

Geez? I didn't know 'we' radio folk in E'ville are easily offended... Hey? I work at SC and think 'STO is positioned for the whole of SC's success... Yes, when Tim and JP go to look at what is the overall reach of the cluster should be, they do see EVERY station in relation to the other.... When 'STO was a Brill station, It really was an Adult CHR/Hot AC from 5:am to 6:pm and then a Hot CHR with Eddie in the night, plus the overnights... They wanted to pull females from the lower side of WIKY in competition.. Barry was good at doing that.. They had no comp to deal with, aftrer 'KDQ went Country... Then in the South Central Cluster.. Move that 'STO baby to a HOT CHR with space between their 18-34 day reach and WIKY's 25-54 (under Elliot's guide).... It just makes sales easier to push and cross sell..... I'll put my 30 plus years in this stuff, on it... Just my take and not a judgement on another opinion or viewpoint... "Skip" ;D (If the four county metro numbers don't prove that, look at the ADI/MSA cumes...).....

Well said Skip. Its great to hear from a true industry vet. I listen just to about everything. I like to know how things behind the scenes operates. :)

I've said it before on these boards. The chemistry between Booker and Sarah is incredible. Booker knew what he was doing when he hired Sarah as producer shortly after meeting her at the restaurant where she waited on Booker and his wife. Sarah was more in tune with Hot's audience than Diane Douglas ever was. That's not a putdown of Diane: she's a seasoned pro. But she was used to working Hot A/C and was out of the demo when the station was repositioned as Hot 96. Fortunately, SC moved Diane over to WIKY for mornings with John David and they sound great together. It was a win win situation for both stations.

Yep... Dayton and Cincy's DJB..... ;D

Dennis was also on the original WNAP in the mid 70s and worked for the famous WRKO in the late 70s and early 80s. He was also the morning host on WKLR before moving to Dayton.

He's loving working for Cincy type pay in a family regional market... You get alot of house at $250K in Newburgh, In over Mason in the Cincy Metro.... wiky.com is a great site and I consider Mark Elliott's approach to the airwaves as a MAC format (mass appeal contemporary)... Our Flashback Weekends are great... "Skip" ;D
