Finally they are streaming ....... if you are outside NYC the website www.hot97.com

And finally, we no longer have to endure the occasional djfrresh thread asking when they will start streaming.

Re: Hot 97 Finally streaming on their website!!!

People can hear how average Hot 97 is.

Kinda heavy on Atlanta Rap music during the weekday. Gives NYC Rappers Jadakiss,Maino and Busta a little weekday daytime love. Gives NYC Rappers love mostly during mix shows.

Not as good as Hot 93.7/Hartford or 102 Jamz/Greensboro. A little better than Power 99 and 100.3 The Beat/Philadelphia. A little better than 92Q/Baltimore.

Just a regular Hip-Hop station.

this makes me very happy

hot 97 is the king of all hip-hop stations

and power 99 sucks as a hip-hop station

It lost that crown a few years ago. There is nothing different about this hip-hop radio station. The station used to have a nice regional sound that you couldn't get anywhere else in the United States. Now it sounds like (insert any American Hip-Hop station). Just Lil' Wayne,Kanye West,Atlanta Rappers and 40 year old air personalities (Flex,Angie,Big Dennis).

When I heard about the Original Hot 97 , I thought the hip hop format was dropped. It sure as hell would be sweet to have the original hot 97 back on 97.1

Sound quality is very, very poor and bad. Distortion all over the place, no processing directly feeded from the mixing board in the studio without any processing between. This is not a good start.
I hope 98.7 Kiss stream sounds better when it comes online.

Wonder why they didn't use streamaudio? Streamtheworld is so CBS Radio. Seems the stream is a few minutes behind the actual broadcast.

Agreed it's about time

Totally agree. And Hot 93.7 is great, I haven't heard 102 Jamz Greensboro.

However one of the best stations I listenend to was the only one we could get on the walkman when I was in High School, WJFP (They are a Southern / Central Florida Non-Com, with half gospel (mornings), half hip hop (nights) schedule) pretty interesting hip hop shows, tho I think they have added a bit more gospel since the 90's. They cover All the small but predominantly black communities in small towns from Central and South Florida without big market stations (using repeaters) Pretty Unique ;) Site: www.wjfp.com

My other 2 favorites are KCEP 88.1 Las Vegas http://www.power88lv.com/
and WNSB Hot 91.1 Norfolk, VA http://www.nsu.edu/wnsb/

^Both also non comms (And Hot 91.1 puts in NPR news breaks in the middle of the hip hop) ;)

The playlist is Basic BUT the mixes are World Class. NOBODY mixes like HOT 97. Lots of exclusives and early song breaks.

hmm odd to hear Hot97 stream covering up their commercials with Music. Did they not know they were going live and not sell internet spots? Good for listeners not for Revenue. Or could they be doing like a new station running with little or no commercials?

Hot 93.7/Hartford's Mixers are just as good as Hot 97's. The station has the DREAM TEAM: DJ's Kay Gee,Craig G,Phenom,Playtime,Billy Bush,Wrexx and others. Lots of early song breaks.

Why is 98.7 Kiss still not streaming on the new streamtheworld platform? All NYC Emmis stations are streaming, also RXP but Kiss not yet. Have Emmis plans to sell this station?
