Hot 97 leaning more rhythmic again

Sounds like hot 97 is easing back to playing some more rhythmic tracks again. Mackelmore 2 songs getting heavy rotation. Justin Timberlake Mirrors getting heavy rotation. A dance track with Jeremiah is now in the playlist not just in mix shows. Wonder if the recent numbers have anything to do with it.

Its not just WQHT. Sister station KPWR/Los Angeles has also opened up its playlist to include more Rhythmic pop/dance tracks. It looks like today's taste in music is catching up with the Emmis outlets.

More rhythmic as opposed to what?

They were very hip hop heavy up until lately. Was in NYC for New Years 2013 and heard nothing but hip hop 95% of the time I was there.

Just curious; isn't hip hop considered "rhythmic"? I thought rhythmic CHRs were usually hip hop stations.

"Rhythmic" may have hip-hop to a certain extent though stations like Hot 97 are considered more "Urban" in tastes. But "rhythmic" in itself are just vocal songs with a beat.

In other words, they're playing more white music now.
