Hot 97 ?

Is this a typo or is this true did HOT 97 NY play Lady Gaga Alejandro at 6:33 PM on Friday June 11? Yes.com has it being played at that time. Has anybody heard this being played?

there prbrobly going the route alot of rap rhythmic stations are flowing meaning playing hip-hop and current hits

Between 5pm-7pm on Fridays, usually Hot 97 is in "mix mode", meaning a "kitchen sink" approach where snippets of just about anything get thrown in.

So, not too surprising...a few Lady Gaga tracks have popped up from time to time on Hot 97, especially if there's some kind of hip-hop/R&B mix and/or vocalist added. "Telephone" with Beyonce might have gotten a few spins, for example. Or just add Lil Wayne to any track (he was very busy before he went away! ;) ). Now his voice could probably be added to any track just by picking up various sample snippets of his voice & putting them back together. The wonders of modern technology! :D

Yes.com will log a (popular) song even if you only play 5 seconds of it or use the instrumental as a music bed.

Also to add to the problems of YES.com's accuracy, I submit the following example from Z100's yes.com playlist:

Ke$ha - Your Love Is My Drug
18.06.2010 2:00am
Buy from: iTunes | Amazon.com

: Hot Chelle Rae - Bleed
18.06.2010 2:03am
Buy from: iTunes | Amazon.com

I had noticed that the Hot Chelle Rae song had placed high on yes.com's Z100 Top 100 Songs for the week & wondered: what did I miss?! After looking thru their logs for the week, I saw that this combo above kept coming up. Possibly there's a sample of "Bleed" (or something that sounds "just like it") that's used in "Your Love Is My Drug" & yes.com picks up the "embedded code" of "Bleed" & lists it separately.

Also, since the yes.com "sensors" pick up whatever's going out over the air, they've been known to pick up erroneous info should there be "skip", "tropo" or other interference, such as from an FM modulator from a satellite radio or other listening device. When reading thru some of the song logs there are also lots of gaps (songs with "non-embedded" or otherwise missed codes) and lots of multiple entries for single tracks.

I've seen various versions of "recently played"/"song logs" on station websites & independent sites (such as yes.com). Tune Genie seems to be the most accurate & complete on station websites (for example: WXPK-FM-107.1 The Peak in Westchester County, NY with their AAA format with some rare songs that Tune Genie seems to track most of if not all). Mediabase.com's listings are somewhat better than yes.com's.

As I've pointed out just the other day on another thread, this is nothing new. Hot 97 has played a pop song from a Justin Timberlake along with its regular playlist.

Not only that, but when I listen to those "afterhours" mixshows on stations like B96 or WiLD 94.9, yes.com shows songs that sound nothing like what the station just played or even something that's totally out of the station's format.

Remember Hot97 wants to keep their Ryhthmic Tag every now and then they will lean back Rhythmic for a few months then go back Urban. Looks like they are going into a Rhythmic lean again for a bit. I check out their Playlist This was on it

USHER OMG f/will.i.am 116 Spins (rhythmic repetiton)
TRAVIE MCCOY Billionaire f/Bruno Mars 58 Spins
EMINEM Not Afraid 28
B.O.B Airplanes f/Hayley Williams 19

This is nothing new for Hot97

I was in NYC towards the end of May and I have to say Hot97 sounds like a Hot Mess to me these days. I used to think they sounded so good. Also how pitched is their music? I think it was OMG by Usher that sounded way too high pitched to me and I am usually bad at telling when stuff is pitched. I think that Power 105 is the better sounding station as far as a playlist goes, even if they do lean a little too r&b.

H0t 97 is having an all mix weekend, at times they will throw in songs which will not typically fit their typical programming during mix shows.

This is good because this means they'll play LMFAO shots and probably "I gotta feeling" by B.E.P. again.
I think "OMG" should be in their regular playlist, especially since even urbans are using that song a lot.

OMG is in their regular playlist. Not sure if its still number one but I do know it was number one for weeks, logging in 130 plays a week. Im sure its still Top 5 on Hot 97.

OMG 116 Spins

BTW Does the FCC Listen to Hot 97 overnight?  Is the N-Word Allowed on the air after a certain time?

G-Unit - Where The Dope At?
09.07.2010 1:24am This song had the N-Word all over it but other curses censored

N-word is not a Banned word from the FCC. I heard the N-word on a Rock station and last week I heard the N-word on Jamn 94.5 Boston( 4th of July Jamz weekend ).

I don't think you get a fine for cussing between 10pm-6am. So yes, Hot 97 is safe.

OK no problem then. I usually hear more curses not just N-word after 10pm on hot97 during Flex Show and Kay Slay show
