HOT 975 - Bismarck

Has anyone heard this station? I was in town last weekend visiting and it's sounds prettty good for a small town Cumulus CHR.

I haven't heard it, but I'm in Williston. One of these days I'll make sure to check it out.

I agree a bit heavy on the rythmic - Maybe Mr. Walker should buy them out and make it a small town station again. ;D

A "true" Top 40 station would play Miley Cyrus' "7 Things" and Metro Station's "Shake It".

Hot 97.5 didn't even touch those. ::)

There's no Hot AC (Y93 is pretty close) station or Rhythmic station in town.

So Hot 97.5 tries to be 3 different stations in one. Sadly, it fails.

They're too rhythmic leaning.

uh...maybe on weekends...during the week, that doesn't seem to be the case

maybe at night, I doubt it during the day. Not to get in any argument (see the Billy Bush thread on the CHR/pop board for that).. Jan Jeffries programs that station based on what he likes to listen to, not what the listeners like to listen to.

Well, during the day Hot 97.5 tries to be a Hot AC station, and after 5pm it tries to be a rhythmic one.

uh...after 5, it's the old school show. savage garden is rhythmic?

For someone who works at another station in town, you sure know what's going down at Hot 97.5

You're safe, Todd

Yeah, which is why I said it's funny he know what the HOT 97.5 schedule is, when he works at Y93, their "competition".

Mr. Joe Hot 97.5 staffer, are you trying to crank Todd's chain? ;D

In regards to redandnater...seriously, why would CC even THINK about getting rid of the man who works at least 50 hours at the station and at home, just in the name of budget cuts? From what I've heard, Todd Mitchell is the hardest working person at CC and does more behind the scenes then you know of.

Lay off, Todd, he's damn good at what he does. My guess is there are a lot of those in this business who would like to be like Todd :)

uhhh... 10 year old girls like Miley Cyrus! I don't think Hot 97.5 is too concerned with the 10 year olds. If they wanted "teen" or "kids" numbers, why would they have an "old school" lunch that plays 80's and 90's music? I think they are after the "at-work" adult audience during the day and lean younger at night because the adults aren't listening to the station. Besides, Hot 97.5 wouldn't make any $$ targeting teens anyway! I wouldn't say they are too rhythmic either. When I do tune in, I don't hear a lot of rap music. From what I can tell, they play a lot of newer rock music that no one else in town plays. Sure they do play rap music...most Top 40 stations do and a lot of Top 40 stations play more rap at night and on the wekeends..just like Todd mentioned. That's normal. I think they do a fine job targeting the 18-34 audience in Bismarck. Todd does a great job with Y93 targeting the 25-54 audience. I think Y93 is a good sounding AC station. Together, I think Hot 97.5 and Y93 serve the Bismarck market well.
