Freestyle is coming back my friends! Count on it. Disregard the Hot 97.7 WEBSITE. It's a joke. I'm talking a 100KW Blowtorch and it will be called HOT---Programmed by the creator of the original KHQT Hot 977 DON KELLY. No Bob Perry will NOT be involved nor Steve Smith/Michael Newman.

If they do come back i would like to hear: Panama Jack, Christopher Lance, Lisa Foxx, JV & Passenger Pete 5000. Ya'll ain't ready.

That was Hot 97.7 back in 88-89!
By 95 I remember their playlist leaned heavily on the big Hip Hop hits that were also big on KMEL and Wild (E-40, Da Luniz, 2 Pac, etc.). They still played some Real MCcoy, Crystal Waters, and a couple of newer Freestyle records in rotation, but its Freestyle heavy days were long gone.
Why in the hell would they come back now on a full market bay area signal only to play nothing but 80s Freestyle?
If anything, there should be more Freestyle music played on Movin 99.7
If Hot 97.7 were to come back (even though The Fog seems to be doing really well in San Jose) it would most likely sound identical to the current sound of Wild 94.9, or 102.5 K-Don out of Monterrey.
 
Great post -- BUT!!

hot 97.7 is a good weekend theme- bad idea for a format - it would have a .5 share for 3 mos and dip from there - less than 100 bonafide "freestyle hits" so do the math
