Hot 98.1 sound quality

Was shocked to find out that Hot 98.1 got a STAR for station of the year at the SCBA this past weekend. Is this what things have come to?

but over the past year with the 70s soft AC ballads gone, the 60s music largely dropped and the safe venture in to the 90s I can literally find no complaints for my tastes, especially with Magic moving away from the 70s and even a lot of 80s tunes as the AC format evolves.

And if I lived around Greenville, I could literally find nothing for my tastes.

Well WHZT certainly does not spend much time with the on-air side of things. No new adds in weeks which is crazy for a CHR.

So Hot 98.1 just added Portugal. The Man's "Feel It Still." Charlie Puth and Niall Horan are in power rotation.

Can we say Mainstream CHR now?

Give another listen to imaging quality on the 96-9. Also, Earth is super clean and ready for long term ears.

Light 96.9 is so "clean" sounding. And LOUD for a translator. Lots of punch. I just hate that woman's voice who does the imaging. She sounds fake and over-processed. The music sounds awesome.

LIIIIIIITE *ding* 96-9. It has an awful tinny sound. God, it's terrible.

I also wish Earth FM would get more creative imaging. It's gotten very old and is boring.

Any way I can find out how it sounds? I won't be in that area anytime soon and, in fact, unless I buy an HD receiver (unlikely) I won't be close enough to hear the translator.

They are one of the few translators in the market that doesn't show in the ratings.

Checking a random hour on Hot 98.1 from yesterday afternoon, they seem to have finally found focus...here is an hour:

It looks like they’ve pulled out most of the random hip hop leftovers that sounded so awful against the mainstream pop hits. Not ideal overall for me as a CHR fan, but much more listenable than a few months ago.
