Hot 98.1 WHZT question

Has WHZT's CP ever been completed? I know their signal was to expand a little more south towards Newberry. I have also noticed WTPT 93.3 has a CP to increase their signal just a tad bit. TIA for any info.

As far as I know, the WHZT CP was never built out. I believe they were planning to build it at the current WJMZ site on highway 88 in Anderson. The CP was issued on 8/31/04 and expired on 8/31/07. The FCC web site lists the permit cancelled as of 9/13/07. WJMZ originally had a CP to move to the WMYA-TV/WROQ tower off highway 418 near Fountain Inn and diplex with WROQ. This move would leave the highway 88 site vacant. I notice this CP has been cancelled and a new one has been recently filed to locate WJMZ on the WMYA-TV tower but without diplexing with WROQ. I wonder if WHZT has to wait until WJMZ vacates the site in order to build. Will be interesting to see if they re-file.

Forgot to mention:  WHZT and WJMZ are both owned by Cox Radio.  WROQ is owned by Entercom. The highway 88 tower that WJMZ currently uses is owned by Clear Channel.  The WMYA-TV/WROQ tower near Fountain Inn is owned by Chesapeake Television.  Confusing ain't it?  I guess it is more cost effective to lease space on a tower than to own it.

The list goes on. CC leases 660am to WLFJ. CC also leases 1440am to a real estate mogul from FL with Spanish content. It's an engineer's nightmare!
