HOT ANCHOR COMING TO KTVK

On 15 March Gina Maravilla put a picture on Facebook of new anchor Stella Inger doing some run-throughs with Javier Soto. Gina says Stella will do the 4:30 segment with Javier and the 5-6 block with Scott Pasmore before Kaley O'Kelley comes out at 6:00 with Scott.

So basically Kaley gets the Tara Hitchcock spot. And April Warnecke doesn't have to do the news and weather at 4:30.

Thank goodness! April is known to hate anchoring because the stories are so sad, while weather stories are NEVER sad (except for earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, tsunamis, heavy thunderstorms, etc.).

But the bigger question is why Gina is announcing this on her Facebook page. Shouldn't 3TV put it on their Facebook page. After all, Stella is the next hot thing in the market according to the earlier posts.

Gina shot a photo with her cellphone of Stella and Javier sitting at the main desk and posted it on Facebook. That is why she is posting it!

My point was that Stella is a new anchor. 3TV should, as a company, WANT to let us know that she's joining the GMAZ team. You would think that they would informs the viewers when their favorite GMAZ anchors are going to be on the show.

As you can tell, one of my biggest pet peeves is finding out this type of info on the traffic anchor's Facebook page. I don't have time or patience to check everyone's Facebook page to find out BASIC information on so-called tv personalities or their so-called newscasts.

I agree with you that if a company is going to maintain a public presence on online media they should keep it up to date. However, in the real world, it has been my experience they do not give online their top priority.

On one hand you seem to be genuinely concerned about personnel changes but then you demean the personalities and their newscasts. Tough to get a reading. Personally, I don't pay that much attention as I've found over the years that one talking head is pretty much like another and they will come and go with regularity and sometimes without notice. I have found that in KTVK too although they seem to be somewhat different than the other stations in the Valley.
 
landtuna, you're right. I do have a problem with announcing things on Facebook. My company (and most companies) would fire me if I personally announced personnel moves on Facebook. Why do news personalities get a break on this?

Second, on Sunday GMAZ, they announced the following GMAZ anchoring schedule:

4:30 - 5:00am Javier and Stella
5:00 - 6:00am Scott and Stella
6:00 - 9:00am Kaley and Scott
9:00 - 10:00am Kaley and Javier

So, there you have it -- announced on the show -- not on Facebook!
