Hot E-Skip: FL <==> IL

The whole band lit up south of Chicago after 17:30 CST today (01/08)... I only had a minute or two to ID anything, but with full RDS info am picking up 96.9 WINK-FM Fort Myers. An add for a south Florida car loan company aired around 17:50, followed by Today's Best Variety, Wink FM slogan. RDS PTY is "Adult Hits". Full-quieting and very little fading. Also caught "99 JAMZ" (RDS) on 99.1 but didn't get an ID, although that could have been tropo out of SW Michigan.

I missed this e-skip event because I was at work. But my brother called and told me that he caught it and ID'ed three stations.

88.9- WMEU- Bude, MS
93.3- WQUE- New Orleans, LA
101.9- WLMG- New Orleans, LA

These were heard in southern Michigan.

Positively ID'd from DeKalb, IL around 5:30-6:30 p.m. on 1/8/07:

FM

WTKS Orlando 104.1 "Real Radio 104.1"
WOCL Orlando 105.9 "O-Rock"
WXMK Brunswick, GA 105.9 "Coastal Georgia's Magic 105.9"

Also broke out the old B/W 12 inch TV and picked up WEDU-TV Tampa-St. Pete through all the noise and mess.

It was really jumping from one station to another here in Kokomo, IN - I was trying to tune into WNOU 93.1 "Radio Now" from Indianapolis, which usually comes in quite well here, at least on car radios, and instead I picked up WHDR, 93 Rock, "South Florida's Pure Rock". I also got quite a bit of Spanish-language talk - at least no music was detected on repeated listens. Anyone got an idea what station the talk might have originated from? I guess it's also possible it was merely a long stop set of spots - my Spanish isn't great.

That explains the strong interference I was getting while trying to listen to 93XRT Chicago!
